Candle Meditation: A Journey to Inner Peace
Candle meditation is a wonderful way to relax and unwind, helping you deepen your inner peace. Below, I’ll show you how to tune in, how to prepare, how to do the meditation, and how to spend this special time.
Scents that help you meditate
To stimulate your senses, you can choose a candle with a variety of essential oils. Lavender, jasmine, or sandalwood, for example, are excellent for relaxation and stress relief. I often choose a lavender candle because its calming effect helps me calm my thoughts and invite peace into my environment.
Tune in
When lighting a meditation candle, it’s important to take some time to be consciously present in the moment. Breathe deeply and watch the candle flame as it dances. It is worth choosing a quiet place where you will not be disturbed, so that you can more easily surrender to the experience.
Preparations for meditation
During the preparations, make sure that you have everything you need. You will need a candle, preferably a scented candle that is not only beautiful but also properly prepared. Follow the safety regulations when using a candle. (You can read more about it here). It is also worth paying attention to a comfortable pillow or mattress so that you feel physically comfortable during meditation.
How to do meditation?
Once everything is ready, sit in a comfortable position. Light the candle and place it in front of you so that you can see the flame clearly. Close your eyes and start counting your breaths. Relax your shoulders and release all tension. Pay attention to the candle's light, and if your thoughts wander, gently bring your attention back to the air and the flame. It's okay if you wander at first. This is also a learning process. Here too, practice is key; the more you meditate, the better you will get and the sooner you can shut out the outside world and focus on one thought.
What should you do during meditation?
The most important thing during meditation is to stay away from distractions. When you feel like your meditation is over, extinguish the candle and take the time to consciously return to the outside world. Stretch and move around a bit before getting up. If you've done everything right, you'll feel rested and recharged a bit spiritually.
Candle meditation gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in your inner world, while the flame symbolizes your journey to self-discovery. It is worth dedicating some time to this practice every week to recharge and continue our daily lives refreshed.
It is important to note that meditation is not only possible with a candle. There are countless guided meditation audio materials available, but we should pay attention to the fact that the person who leads the guided meditation (even if it is in audio) is knowledgeable, otherwise the expected result will not be achieved.
For example, there are those who specifically love the forest and, although they get physically tired, they are mentally recharged after a hike.
