Introduction to Indian Food
Curries: Indian curry is one of the most famous dishes that is loved all over the world. Authentic Indian curry is spicy, rich, creamy and has a rich aroma. Curry is based on various spices such as turmeric, cumin, coriander, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger and chili, which are combined with various meats, vegetables, lentils or other ingredients. Types of Indian curry include “vindaloo”, “tikka masala” and “korma”.

Tandoori dishes: Tandoori dishes are traditional Indian barbecue dishes prepared in a special oven called a tandoor. Tandoori dishes are best known in the form of meats (such as chicken) and naan bread. The meats are marinated with various spices such as yogurt, turmeric, chili and garam masala and then baked. The dishes prepared this way get a special smoky flavor, which is given by the tandoor oven.

Samosa: A samosa is a small, triangular-shaped pastry that is baked or deep-fried and filled with various fillings such as potatoes, vegetables or meat. It is considered the king of Indian snacks as it is a great choice for a light meal or a snack between meals.

Dal (lentil dishes): “Dal” is an essential ingredient in Indian cuisine and is consumed in various forms. Lentil dishes are a rich source of protein and are a staple of vegetarian Indian cuisine. Dal is often seasoned with spices such as turmeric, chili, garlic and coriander and served with boiled rice.

Naan and Roti: Naan is a soft Indian bread traditionally baked in a tandoor oven. Roti is a simpler round-shaped toasted bread also made in home kitchens. Both breads are an essential accompaniment to Indian curries and go great with richly spiced dishes.
